Automatic Air Valves Air valves are used in piping systems to maintain pumping efficiency and to provide a degree of protection against pipe or equipment damage during the filling and draining of the system.
Pipeline restrictions caused by trapped air can reduce the pumping rate and increase pumping costs. Properly located and installed air valves vent accumulated air in the pipe to maintain design efficiency.
Air also needs to be exhausted while the system is filled and to be admitted when drained, either intentionally or unexpectedly such as due to a power failure or line break, to reduce the likelihood of damaging surges or vacuum conditions.
GA Industries has been designing and manufacturing air valves since 1965 when it introduced the “Kinetic” design air valves. The standard product line has grown to include a wide range of valves for water and sewage service from ½” (15mm) air release valves to 16” (400mm) combination air valves.
GA Industries air valves meet or exceed the requirements of American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standard C-512. All GA Industries air valves are supplied standard with Type 316 stainless steel floats and trim, 100% tested and fully warranted.
