GA Industries ELECTRIC CHECK valves are used on the discharge of water pumps to prevent reverse flow when the pump is off, with the added benefit of controlling pressure surges associated with pump operation. At pump start-up, the valve gradually opens only after the pump has come up to speed. At normal pump shutdown, the valve slowly closes against the running pump which turns off only after the valve has closed. In the event of a power outage, the valve will close at a faster than normal, but controlled, speed in order to minimize pump backspin and flow reversal.
