GA Industries, Inc. Oil-Controlled Closing Swing Check valves are used on the discharge side of pumps, opening freely at pump start with minimal headloss while pumping and closing in two stages upon pump shutdown to minimize pump shutdown surges by allowing some flow reversal during the final controlled-closing stage. They can be used with raw sewage and other fluids as well as with clean water. Typically used when excessive surges are produced at each pump shutdown and a separate surge relief valve is not practical. For more information, refer to Bulletin S-25DX
