GA Industries, LLC was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1895 by Charles E. Golden and Edward V. Anderson as "Golden-Anderson Valve & Specialty Company." The earliest products were valves for boiler works and railroads. In 1956 the company was purchased by a small group of executive management who focused on the needs of the growing municipal water and wastewater market.
GA Industries entered its second century in 1995 marked by the acquisition of Rodney Hunt Company in Orange, Massachusetts. The union of these two renowned companies produced the world's most comprehensive product line of valves, sluice gates, and actuation systems for water and wastewater control.
In February 2008, GA Industries and its subsidiary, Rodney Hunt Company, were acquired by Zurn Industries, LLC, a business unit of Rexnord Industries.
In October 2011, Rexnord acquired VAG-Armaturen Gmbh, a successful international gate and valve manufacturer. This acquisition lead to the formation of the North American Valve and Gate Group in 2012, which consists of GA Industries, Rodney Hunt, and Fontaine.
