Engineered Check Valves
GA Industries categorizes several types of check valves as “engineered products” because these valves have features and operating characteristics that allow them to be used in more rigorous applications than the check valves included in our “distributor products.”

“Engineered” check valves not only prevent return flow but also afford additional benefits such as non-slam operation, surge reduction, low headloss and operational adjustability. The features of GA Industries “engineered” check valves are especially desirable in critical pump station applications where there is the likelihood of waterhammer, slam, pressure surges and system shock.

GA Industries “engineered” check valves consist of both quick closing valves for minimizing noise and hammer as well as slow closing valves that provide the added benefit of reducing pump shut down surges.

Check valve selection is often based on “that’s what has worked in the past” without considering the particular needs of the application. While many installations can be satisfied with one of our “distributor product” check valves, GA Industries factory engineers and trained Manufacturer’s Representatives have the experience and knowledge to recognize those applications when the features of a GA Industries engineered check valve are needed for successful operation.

A good place to start is by completing our Surge Analysis Checklist so that our engineers can review the operating conditions and recommend the GA check valve best suited to the needs of the system.
